SCHOOL NEWS

PES | September Newsletter 2020

Dear Parents, Students, Staff, and Community,

As September begins, the Popplewell Elementary School administration, faculty, and staff would like to say thank you for all of the understanding during the start of the 2020-2021 school year. I am both honored and humbled to lead such a great educational institution.

Regardless of what the year is forecasting, we have high expectations for each of our students. We believe that all students, despite the challenges, should have the opportunity to achieve academic success, feel safe, and have some normalcy. All students should have the same supports and opportunities equal to each other. Myself and our dedicated teachers that lead our instruction are committed to providing every student with the highest quality of education possible. We plan to do so by:

  • Creating and fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students.

  • Providing equitable educational opportunities for all students.

  • Building the social and emotional competency in all students.

  • Providing a guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students.

The safety, equal opportunities, and social-emotional wellbeing are crucial. As we prepare to take an unprecedented start to the school year, we must partner together to understand the troublesome outlook that has flooded our present times. Now more than ever, we must demonstrate, to our students, the need to embrace differences, mindset, and respecting each other’s beliefs and ideas.

On behalf of Popplewell Elementary school, I want to say, thank you for your understanding of the precautions we are taking as a school during this time. Thank you for being patient with the changes as we are following the guidelines of the South Central Health Department, and for allying with administrators, teachers, and staff in working together to educate all of the students of Popplewell Elementary.

Respectfully,

Cynthia Cooper

Principal

Popplewell Elementary School
