Buhl School District Parents, Students and Staff

The end of our first semester is upon us and I would like to thank you all for the effort it took to get the school year going. We have enjoyed a wonderful fall with no COVID disruptions like we have endured the previous two years!

Here is a recap of some of the highlights:

  • In October the district completed the strategic planning process we started a year ago with the board approving the six focus areas with objectives and tasks for this year. The completed documents can be found on the district website at https://www.buhlschools.org/accountability

  • We started a district-wide process to align curriculum from kindergarten through 12th grade during the October 28th professional development day. This is a large undertaking and one that will take some time, but it will be well worth the effort!

  • At the November 21st board meeting, our school board approved moving to a four-day week calendar for the 23-24 school year. A committee composed of parents, community members and district administrative, classified and certified staff have started the work of putting a calendar together to bring back to the board for their approval. This will be the first of many steps taken this year to prepare for this change.

  • We are excited for the updated playground equipment at Popplewell elementary. It took more time than we would have liked to get it finished but the results were worth the wait! A big thank you to all those who helped make this happen!

  • Our congratulations go out to the coaches, athletes and parents from our fall sports programs. Our girls soccer, volleyball, cross country and football teams all qualified for State competition.

We have had some challenges along the way that have caused us to think differently as well. Supply chain and staffing issues continue to be a problem. Even with these challenges, we continue to focus on our strategic plan and district motto, “learn with purpose.”

As 2022 comes to a close, may you enjoy this holiday season and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year with friends and family! I am so excited for 2023 and what the future holds for our wonderful district!

With great pride,

David Carson Ed.S.
