Dear Families, Staff, and Community Members,

We have several exciting updates to share regarding our leadership, student achievements, and new opportunities for our schools.

District Highlights & Announcements

New Leadership at Buhl High School

We are pleased to announce Katie Horner as our next High School Principal! Having served within the district for the past three years, Ms. Horner brings experience and a deep commitment to our students' success. Please join us in welcoming her into this new role.

Grants & Special Projects

  • English Learner (EL) Grant: The district was recently awarded a grant that will provide $15,000 in additional funds annually for the next three years. These resources will be dedicated to enhancing support for our English language learners.

  • Idaho Pathways to Partnerships: Buhl has been selected as a pilot district for this project, which focuses on supporting students with disabilities (ages 10–24). This partnership will help bridge the gap between education and future career or community opportunities.

New Student Tech Initiative

We are thrilled to launch a new hands-on student initiative this semester. A select group of students will now have the opportunity to assist our IT department in repairing and maintaining district Chromebooks. This program not only helps keep our technology running smoothly but also provides students with valuable technical skills and real-world troubleshooting experience.

Activities & Athletics

Spring sports and school activities are now in full swing! From the diamond to the track, our students are working hard. We encourage everyone to come out, wear your school colors, and support our talented student-athletes and performers. BHS Athletics BMS Athletics

Board Corner

Updates from the Buhl School District Board of Trustees

The Board has been working closely with district administration to address our evolving needs within the current budget. We want to keep the community informed about our fiscal landscape:

  • Financial Outlook: Costs continue to rise, and the district expects to receive fewer "support units" from the state than in the previous year. This reduction in state funding requires us to be even more strategic with our resources. We will be considering enrollment, class sizes and programs as we navigate staffing decisions to align our expenses to the funding available.

  • Facility Improvements: The Board is currently looking at replacing the high school roof and upgrading the football stadium lights to ensure a safe and functional environment for our students.

A Note on Testing Season

As we enter the spring testing window, we want to ensure our students feel confident and prepared. You can help by making sure your child gets adequate rest and a healthy breakfast on testing days. We know they have worked hard all year, and we want them to have every opportunity to do their best!

Go Indians!
