Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community,
As this year comes to a close, I can’t help but look back at all the wonderful happenings at Popplewell Elementary for 2018. I feel so fortunate to be a part of a community that works together as a family to provide enrichment and support to all of our children. As we review the past year, we can see that our efforts have been extremely productive. I commend our staff, parents, and families for doing an outstanding job in providing all of our children with so much in the way of academic support, encouragement, and love.
The last day of the first semester/second nine weeks was on December 20, 2018. You will receive your child’s report card on January 11, 2019. Please take time to review your child’s academic and social progress. If you have questions, please call the office and set up an appointment with your child’s teacher. Although official parent/teacher conferences will not take place until February 28 and March 1, the teachers and I are willing to meet with parents/guardians at any time.
The teachers will be giving the State of Idaho’s Reading Indicator to determine the reading growth the students have made since the beginning of the school year. In addition, the students are taking Universal Screening Assessments for reading, math, and other benchmark subjects. Encourage your child to put forth his/her best efforts. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns you have related to your child’s achievement.
We have not missed any snow days this year, however, the winter is not over. If the school is canceled parents will receive a Power Announce. We will also call the news, newspapers and put messages on our Popplewell Elementary and Buhl School District web pages.
I would like to thank everyone for the support Popplewell Elementary School is given. As always, the support for our school from our community is something we appreciate very much.
