Dear Parents and Community Members,
The new school year is off to a great start! Students and their families are starting to get into their school routines. Buhl Middle School has some new changes to staff this year. Mrs. Perrine has taken over as our art teacher. Mr. Dahl has moved over from the elementary to teach 7 th grade science and taken over as assistant AD. Miss Gallegos is a Buhl graduate and is teaching our new writing classes for 6 th and 7 th grade. Mrs. Henslee is taking Mr. Perron’s place as our 6 th grade language teacher. Ms. Bunn moved to the high school this year and Ms. Bosteder has taken her place as our 7 th grade language teacher. Mrs. Winn has returned to the middle school this year. Miss. Henson, also a Buhl graduate, will be one of our paraeducators. Mrs. Dukruyf is doing double duty as our school counselor and teaching P.A.C.E and health. We are very excited to have them as part of our middle school family this year.
The Gear Up program is getting started. GEAR UP and College Awareness Week at Buhl Middle School is scheduled for October 7 through 11. The activities for the week will be centered around increasing students awareness of college and career opportunities. Buhl Middle School 8th graders will be visiting the Boise State University Campus on Friday, October 11. 8th grade students will also have the opportunity to participate in a "Hands On, Minds Open" event sponsored by Junior Achievement of Idaho on Tuesday, November 12. This hands-on career exploration workshop will give our students the opportunity to learn about careers in time to plan their high school coursework. Students in the 7th grade will be visiting two of the College of Western Idaho campuses later this fall. Additional GEAR UP sponsored activities and services will be provided throughout the school year in an effort to help students meet standards necessary for high school graduation and provide them with the skills to succeed beyond high school.
Our annual fundraiser, World’s Finest Chocolate Sales, will kick off this week. Students will be out selling chocolate from September 20 th through Oct. 1 st . We are so grateful to the Buhl community for their continued support of our school and their willingness to help ensure our fundraiser is a success every year. The money from this fundraiser helps us continue with important programs in our school, such as Fun Friday which encourages students to have perfect attendance, field trips to the Boise Art Museum and S.T.E.M. programs.
