Popplewell Elementary December Newsletter
Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community Members:
Happy Holidays from Popplewell Elementary staff and students, and welcome to December!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with food, family, and friends! The busy holiday season is here. We hope to keep the students on task as much as possible in the next three weeks. It is a challenging act! The minds of young children have a habit of wandering to all that the holiday season brings.
With the snow comes cold temperatures, please be sure that your children come to school prepared to go outside for their recess. Students will be going outdoors as often as possible. Please have coats, hats, mittens, ski pants, and boots ready! Also, please check the “Lost & Found” table across from the office for missing items. The inventory is
growing!
Each family deals with the holidays, weather, and routines in different ways. The upcoming weeks can become overwhelming as families prepare for the holiday festivities, travel, and outings. It is essential to remember that routines are crucial. Families need to make a concerted effort to keep routines for their children. Daily reading practice, consistent homework support, and family time is essential to maintaining schedules and is vital to school success. Arranging your holidays around many activities is a balancing act. Below is a timeline of events for December to help remember and keep routines as consistent as possible.
Activities in December:
K-Kids (Canned Food Drive) | Nov. 18th - Dec. 7th
Fundraiser (Little Ceasars Pizza) | Start Date: Nov. 20th Turn in Money: Dec. 3rd Delivery Date Dec. 18th

Finally, I challenge everyone to experience the holiday season through the lenses of a child. Take the time to listen to the sweet laughter of a child, observe the wonders through their eyes, feel the softness and hope in their touch, and experience their love of the season. Take time to enjoy every sense of the season and share the memories in your
home. These memories will provide feelings of love and joy that we all can cherish for many, many years.
I wish you and your children a beautiful, safe holiday season. May you continue to experience the world through your child’s eyes as often as possible. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Cynthia M. Cooper
