Dear Parents/Guardians and Buhl Community,
Thank you for your continued support of our school district. Our school board, administration, and staff take great pride in the trust given us to be conscientious stewards of the money and resources you help to provide. These resources allow our students to be successful and prepared when they graduate from Buhl.
I wanted to make you aware that our school board approved a supplemental levy resolution in August. The levy is for $400,000 per year over two years. This is an increase of $50,000 per year over the current supplemental levy. Interestingly enough, because of increasing local market values, the cost per $100,000 for the proposed levy is $4 less per year than the current levy.
A two-year supplemental levy has been approved and in place in the Buhl School District since 2012. The Levy is needed simply to keep up with the demands of increased costs and make up for what state and federal funds don't cover. Some important examples of how these funds are used are:
Maintaining Career Technical Education (CTE) programs
Continuing all-day kindergarten
Maintaining current staffing levels and programs
Covering the increasing costs in operations (bussing, utilities, insurance)
Continuing to support the supplemental levy will allow the district to maintain the same level of service and support that our students have been receiving.
I am always available to answer any questions you may have by calling (208) 543-6436 or emailing david.carson@buhlschools.org. Please remember to vote at your local precinct on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
Sincerely,
David Carson
Superintendent
