Great news!  GEAR UP scholarship amounts have been announced!  GEAR UP 3 students are eligible to receive $1,750 for the 2024-2025 school year.  Below is a letter from the Statewide GEAR UP Coordinator with details and information about this scholarship and how to accept it. Dear Parents/Guardians, Buhl Community and Staff, I would like to start by thanking you for your continued support of education in our district. It is our school board, administration and staff’s goal to be fiscally responsible with the resources you provide as taxpayers. These resources help our students gain the skills necessary to be successful when they graduate. The Buhl School District will be asking the community for a $650,000 supplemental levy. This would replace the current $400,000 levy that expires in June. Levy dollars help make up the difference between what the state provides for K-12 education and what it actually costs the district to maintain the operations and programs provided for our students. This is an increase from our current supplemental levy, which would mean an increase of $1.89 per month per $100,000 of assessed value based on the projected rates. The Buhl School District has had a supplemental levy since 2014 to help close the gap in funding. This levy would be used to maintain staffing levels, programs for our students, transportation costs and maintenance costs. More information can be found on our website under the District tab. The proposed levy replaces an existing levy that expires on Jul 1, 2024, and that currently costs $36.28 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. Therefore, if the proposed levy is approved, the tax per $100,000 of taxable assessed value is expected to increase by $22.68 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value. BUHL ATHLETIC PHYSICAL NIGHT FOR 2024-25 BHS & BMS ATHLETES Dr. Justin Cleverly and his staff, Dr. Bryan Mason and his staff from St. Lukes, and Maureen Knott and her staff from North Canyon Medical are providing their professional services to the students of Buhl. There will also be several local nurses donating their time to help support Buhl Athletics. IHSAA Physical Form found here: 99-Physical Exam and Consent Form.pdf (idhsaa.org) Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024 Place: Buhl High School – Use Main Entrance Time: 6:00 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. - Grades 6, 7, & 8 (2024-25 SY) 6:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. - Grades 9, 10, 11, & 12 (2024-25 SY) For: Students who will be attending Buhl High School or Buhl Middle School in the fall of the 2024 – 25 school year and who want to participate in athletics. Cost: $20.00 per student, payable the night of the examination. All the money goes directly back to Buhl Athletics (Cash only! Checks will not be accepted.) Why: The Idaho High School Activities Association and the Buhl School District require a current physical examination be on file for a youngster to participate in athletics. Students wishing to participate in athletics during the 2024-2025 school year must receive a physical examination dated after May 1, 2024. Enclosed with this announcement is the Idaho High School Activities Association Health Examination and Consent form. Please complete the front portion of the physical form prior to arriving at the school on Physical Night. The form must be signed by a parent/guardian and the student. Students should wear shorts and T-shirts on this night. Eye exams will be given. Students should wear glasses or contacts if prescribed. The Physical Night is a great opportunity for a student to receive a medical examination conveniently done and for little cost. The doctors and nurses will donate the entire cost of the physical night to Buhl Athletics. This health screening is certainly not a substitute for a more complete physical exam by your own health care provider. This is a directed exam, designed to detect only problems that could result from athletic participation. Students are not allowed to participate or practice without a valid physical on file.
